Outings in Art was founded by Art & Design Consultant Chris Barlow and his partner Michael Chan in 2012. We offer a free monthly programme of arts-based events.
An important aspect of our outings is ‘coffee & cake’, since we meet afterwards to catch up with each other and share our thoughts on what we have experienced.
Our aim is to bring together members of our LGBTQ+ community and allies to share in rich cultural life of this great city of ours, and in so doing help to reduce social isolation and loneliness.
Our visits are not just confined to the usual major cultural institutions since we explore many of the alternative spaces and events.
Our group outings have ranged from free community previews of major exhibitions at British Museum to events such as Margate Pride, as well as film screenings, college degree shows, music events and the impressive annual LGBT History Month programme hosted by forum+ (previously known as Camden LGBT Forum).
Many of our major museums and galleries have free entry as well as active community partnership programmes.
